Post Hotel Wedding | Katie & Adam | Winter Lake Louise elopement

Post Hotel Wedding | Winter in Lake Louise

Winter in Lake Louise is absolutely spectacular, so Katie and Adam made a wise choice to run away with close family to have their Post Hotel wedding surrounded by fresh snow and majestic mountains. Elopements & intimate weddings are becoming much more popular and I really enjoy photographing them! Eloping in the Canadian Rocky Mountains is a wonderful idea! You get all the fun of a wedding without having to coordinate tons of people and chaos. We did photos of Katie & Adam before the ceremony just outside on the grounds of the Post Hotel. It’s a beautiful area with a river and mountain views. As with most winter weddings, it was pretty chilly after being out there for a while so we got cozy and wrapped them up in a warm, snuggly blanket for some really cute photos! I kind of have an obsession with blankets in photos. I just love the look and it helps keep me outside shooting for longer! After we were done with freezing outside (it was so worth it though!), we popped inside to the lobby at the Post Hotel for a cup of tea to warm up before the ceremony upstairs in the library. The library is a beautiful space for an intimate wedding, especially with that fireplace keeping us toasty on a cold winter day. Here’s some of my favourites from Katie & Adam’s Post Hotel wedding in Lake Louise!

Mt Stephen Hall Wedding | Florence & Darryl | Banff Springs

Mt Stephen Hall Wedding | Banff Springs

When one thinks about getting married at the Fairmont Banff Springs, a Mt Stephen Hall wedding is what usually comes to mind… that room is iconic! Florence & Darryl started off their wedding day getting ready at the Banff Springs. We had an in-room first look with a few photos outside in Florence’s red dress before going to meet up with family to get things started with the tea ceremony. After the tea ceremony it was time for an outfit change and we were off to start the Mt Stephen Hall wedding ceremony. The room is just beautiful and looked great filled with silver chivari chairs! Florence’s walk down the aisle with her Dad was sweet and so was the hand off to Darryl. After the ceremony, we set out to take portraits around Banff. The day before had terribly rainy weather for Kara & Soheel’s wedding so we weren’t sure what to expect! It was a bit colder and the sun was poking out so we actually got snow instead of rain and we also had magical sun flurries! It doesn’t happen often when you get fresh snow and beautiful sun at the same time! I was so darn excited! We finished up with a few photos on Vermilion Lakes, although it was so cold and windy there, we could only last 10 minutes! We headed back to the hotel for the wedding reception in Mt Stephen Hall for an evening of amazing food, great speeches, an awesome Lego cake and dancing! Here’s the story of Florence and Darryl’s St Stephen Hall wedding!

Banff Wedding Photos | Kara & Soheel | Sulpher Mountain & Vermilion Lakes

Sulpher Mountain & Vermilion Lakes

Sometimes the weather in the mountains can be so uncooperative. You plan your dream wedding in the mountains and the day comes and the weather is terrible… there’s fog, and it’s cold and it’s raining. The worst part is that you can’t even tell you are in the mountains because the mountains are hiding. We do the best with what we’re given and still create great photos, but sometimes you really just want a do over. Luckily for Kara & Soheel that they were back in Banff a few weeks after their wedding attending a friend’s wedding and decided to do another round of portraits in their wedding clothes. For the 2nd time out, we got spectacular weather and were able to take photos on top of Sulpher Mountain (and actually have a view, not just dense fog) and to travel to Vermilion Lakes for beautiful sun-drenched fall wedding photos as we had first planned. It was fun getting to meet up with them again and being able to enjoy the time without be cold, miserable and stressed by the weather. If the weather is terrible on your wedding day, you should really consider playing dress up one more time if you can! Here’s some favourites from Kara & Soheel’s 2nd dressup session on Sulpher Mountain and at Vermilion Lakes!
