Chateau Lake Louise Elopement | Chelsea & Phil | Moraine Lake

Lake Louise Elopement Photography

Lake Louise is consistently one of my favourite places to photograph elopements and weddings in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. While it is tricky with all of the crowds, a little patience will yield spectacular Lake Louise Elopement photography results. Just ask Chelsea & Phil. They traveled to Lake Louise from Florida with a small group of family for their wedding day. They had their ceremony at the upper Meadow at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. It’s a bit of a tricky spot to get to, especially for those wearing heels, but the short, steep run up the hill allows for photos with way less people in the background, which is really nice for an elopement ceremony. Chelsea approached the spot with her Dad and Phil’s reaction to seeing her is what most girls hope for… you could just feel the emotion!! Their ceremony was short and sweet (the best kind!) and we did some family photos right after before whisking the newlyweds away for portraits overlooking the iconic Lake Louise. Here’s where things get tricky. When you look at the photos, you think they managed to get this amazing place all to themselves. Not true. In fact, there were thousands of people roaming around the Lake when we did portraits, many of them stopping to take photos of the couple, some trying to selfie with them and some shooting right over my shoulder. So they definitely didn’t have the sot to themselves, but timing and patience made it look that way. After doing photos at Lake Louise, we headed to Moraine Lake, another iconic mountain destination that is packed with people, but you’d never know it from looking at the photos. Chelsea & Phil were a joy to photograph. I’m so happy they chose me for their Lake Louise elopement photography. I’m so lucky I get to meet so many amazing people from all around around doing this job that I love.

Lake Minnewanka Engagement Photos | Kayla & John

Lake Minnewanka Engagement Photos

Fall is my favourite time of year, especially in the mountains. The landscape is just starting to shift to prepare for winter and the colours are beautiful. There’s a crispness in the air and the light is just amazing (and you don’t have to wait until 10 pm for sunset either to get great light). I was excited to meet up with Kayla and John for their Lake Minnewanka engagement photos. Lake Minnewanka, while being an incredibly popular tourist location, is one of my favourite places for engagement sessions because the area is so diverse and it only requires a 10 minute hike to get away from the main crowds. I find it can be awkward for some people being photographed to have an audience, so I like to get a little further away when I can for a smidge of privacy! Kayla and John did a great job of cuddling, snuggling and giggling all through their session (and I really appreciate that they can laugh at my bad jokes) and and they were willing to climb and hike through a few tough spots to get to pretty locations for me. I always appreciate that! I’m really looking forward to their wedding in Edmonton this summer. Here’s some of my favourites from their Lake Minnewanka engagement photos (with a little bit of Vermilion Lakes too! The light was amazing there too!).

Banff Winter Maternity | Jess & Kyle | Cascade Ponds

Banff Winter Maternity | Babymoon

There’s no better way to celebrate all the changes that come with welcoming a new baby into your family than taking a little time for yourselves before and booking a babymoon to get away. Babymoons are becoming increasingly more popular and many couples are deciding to celebrate with Banff winter maternity photos while they are on vacation! Jess & Kyle travelled to Banff for their babymoon from Ontario and we had a crisp winter day with freshly fallen snow to play in for their session. We met up at Cascade Ponds where the light was spectacular that afternoon peeking through the trees (the trees in this area are some of my favourite and make a fabulous backdrop for photos even if you can’t see the mountains). After a quick car ride (and warm up since it was -18 that day!) we went to Lake Minnewanka for a few more photos before sending Jess & Kyle off to enjoy all that the town of Banff had to offer (we actually ran into each other again later in the day at Park Distillery!). Here are some of my favourite photos from their Banff winter maternity session! If you are thinking about your own Banff maternity photos, the ideal time is when you are between 28-36 weeks pregnant (it can be a bit uncomfortable after that point to try to hike and pose).
