Edmonton Boho Wedding | Leah & Rob | Antlers & Smoke bombs

Edmonton Boho Wedding

Before the day even arrived, I knew Leah & Rob’s Edmonton boho wedding was going to be fabulous. We had a great time with their engagement session and they had so many great plans for their wedding day. We started out getting ready at Leah & Rob’s home where Leah had the best hair and make-up team getting the girls ready. She had an amazing dress and the perfect florals from my favourite Edmonton florist. We headed out to a pretty wooded area for the first look and some of the portraits. One of the last locations we visited before heading to ceremony had us enjoying the company of a security company…. oops 😉 The wedding ceremony and reception was at Rob’s parents home and it was beautiful. I loved all the details! After the ceremony we had more time for portraits (a dream!). We had chatted a bit about trying out smoke bombs on their wedding day (my first time!) and it was fun to get the whole wedding party involved with dropping the smoke grenades. We then headed into the reception for a fun evening with good food and tasty treats that ended with more smoke bombs and a fabulous sparkler exit! Here are some of my favourite photos from Leah & Rob’s Edmonton boho wedding!

From the couple:

What were you most looking forward to on your wedding day? I was most looking forward to seeing Robin of course but also seeing how my dream all came together. It was a lot of work from us, our families and our friends and I wouldn’t change a thing!
What ended up being your favourite moment(s) of the day (both answer)? Robin: When I came down the aisle with my dad / Leah:; saying our vows to each other
What was the song you chose for the processional? From the ground up – Dan and Shay
What was the song you chose for your first dance? When you say nothing at all – Chris young
How did you choose your colour scheme/theme for the wedding? When we started planning the wedding the main thing we both wanted was for our guests to say “wow this wedding is Robin and Leah” it was important to me to have both of us represented. I picked the color scheme from just being able to use my favourite colors. I love the dusty/grey versions of colors as they are so soft and romantic.
Where are you going for your honeymoon? We didn’t go on a honeymoon yet because we didn’t want to leave Edmonton in the summer months. It is our plan to go to Hawaii in Jan for our honeymoon

Bow Valley Ranche Wedding | Carly & Eric | Calgary wedding photography

Bow Valley Ranche Wedding

I’ve really enjoyed photographing weddings in Calgary, especially Carly & Eric’s Bow Valley Ranche wedding. It’s just nice to get a change of scenery and new venues to work in. We started getting ready at The Bow Valley Ranche in the cutest room for both Eric and for Carly. After getting ready, we had a quick first look outside before their ceremony started. There was an afternoon reception, so after we did some timeline planning, we decided that we’d do all of their portraits after the reception and it worked fabulously! They got to spend time with their guests and were relaxed and refreshed for portraits when the summer light was gorgeous. It was a win for everyone. I’m hoping to have more weddings with that kind of timeline. Here’s some of my favourite photos from Carly & Eric’s Bow Valley Ranche wedding featuring tea cups and succulents (some of my favourite things!!).

From the Couple:

We were both just looking forward to finally being married! 🙂

Carly’s favourite moment: When I got to see Eric for the first time with us both dressed up and I ended up crying but Eric had a Kleenex ready for me because he knew I would cry.
Eric’s favourite moment: When we walked down the aisle right after the ceremony and were received by family and friends, with a random crowd of spectators congratulating and cheering us on.
The processional song was Love you till the end by The Pogues

I would say we tried to go along with a vintage feel so the venue was exactly what I was looking for. However somethings ended up being very eclectic like cactus/succulents in tea cups (tea cups maybe vintage but cactus?) and I love all animals so why not animal name settings (an excellent Pinterest find in my opinion). I’m also not sure I really had a color scheme lol, it was more go with the flow and the florist did an amazing job picking flowers to fit with what I described to her!

We drove through BC after our wedding for a honeymoon. Made several stop including one at The Burrowing Owl winery. We also hiked along the old train railway path with all the old trestle bridges in Kelowna.
We both wanted to say how much we enjoyed our JP Tamara! She did an amazing job and everyone commented on how lovely of a ceremony it was to us!
Check out Carly & Eric’s Banff engagement session!

Banff Elopement Photography | Melissa & Jason | Juniper Hotel wedding

Banff Elopement Photography | Juniper Hotel

April is one of those tricky months where you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get; it could be spring, it could be winter or it could be a bit of both. This year the mountains have seen quite a bit of late season snow, so I wasn’t surprised to find the snow falling pretty intently when I met up with Melissa & Jason at the Juniper Hotel in Banff for their elopement ceremony. They got married on the terrace at the Juniper Hotel, which, on a clear day, has beautiful mountain views, however with all the snow the mountains were totally obscured but the falling snow against the dark trees does make for a pretty background. After the wedding ceremony we wandered off to Vermilion Lakes and Lake Minnewanka for a few more portraits and in search of a mountain background somehow. The winds were pretty intense on Vermilion Lakes so we didn’t last there for too long! We managed to get a hint of mountains in the background at Lake Minnewanka through all the snow for their Banff elopement photography before ending photos for the day. Melissa & Jason returned to the Juniper where they had a celebratory dinner at the bistro and I hit the road to head home, enjoying the drive in the snow. These are some of my favourite photos from Melissa & Jason’s Banff elopement!
