Calgary Elopement | Ashley & Travis | Calgary Wedding Photography

Calgary Elopement | Rotary Park wedding

I really enjoy Calgary as a city and I’m hoping to have the chance to shoot there more often, so I was super excited for Ashley & Travis’ Calgary elopement a few weeks ago! They had travelled down from Edmonton for the weekend and were greeted with fabulous weather for their ceremony. There is a gorgeous view of the Calgary skyline at Rotary Park and that’s where Ashley & Travis decided to have their ceremony in the evening so we could have gorgeous evening light leading into sunset (a dream!! Why can’t we have this light all day long??). I brought Derek along to hang out and we both signed as witnesses for the marriage, that’s kinda cool! I get to do this all the time, but I think it was the first time for Derek to sign as a marriage witness (he looked awfully cute while doing it too! I couldn’t help but take a few photos of him in action and hamming it up for the camera in classic Derek style). After the quick ceremony, we wandered the edge of Rotary Park for portraits of the newlyweds. I couldn’t get over how cute Ashley’s dress was, it was perfect! Ashley & Travis were sweet together and I just love how their photos turned out. Here are some of my favourite photos from Ashley & Travis’ Calgary elopement in the spring!

Jasper Winter Elopement | Lisa & Cameron | Mountain wedding

Jasper Winter Elopement

Lisa & Cameron chose to have their Jasper winter elopement on April Fool’s Day… and we weren’t really sure if it was going to be winter or not since April can be a tricky time of year. We were set to have their ceremony on the top of a mountain, but just seconds after we boarded the gondola at the Jasper SkyTram, a storm blew in. Like a real snow storm where the snow and wind was so intense that it was snowing inside the enclosed gondola and the normally 7-minute ride took over 20 minutes because we had to go so slow because of the high winds. Once we made it to the top it was a white out. No mountains to be seen in any direction. So the plan was to do the ceremony back at the bottom now… but with the winds, we were stuck on top of the mountain for an hour and a half before it was safe to operate the gondolas again to take us all back down. Quite the way to start the day! It all turned out well though. We picked a nice spot overlooking the Athabasca River for the ceremony and then I had Lisa & Cameron jump in with me (since they blew a tire driving back down the mountain… seriously, April Fool’s Day had it in for us) and we took off to Medicine Lake where it was a beautiful winter wonderland. We stayed there for awhile and another bone chilling storm blew in and we decided to head back down the mountain. On the road though, we were greeted with these huge, fluffy beautiful snowflakes so we jumped out and started taking photos for the few minutes the snow lasted. That snow truly was magical! Onward we went, near the 5th bridge to take more photos on the water before we wrapped for the night. Here are some of my favourite photos from Lisa & Cameron’s Jasper winter elopement!

Lake Louise Winter Wedding | Elizabeth & David | mountain elopement

Lake Louise Winter Wedding

If you aren’t afraid of the cold and love gorgeous, snowy mountain scenery, you should absolutely consider a Lake Louise winter wedding. While Lake Louise is a busy tourist destination, it’s not as busy in the winter as it is in the summer months and the snow-dusted view is spectacular! Elizabeth & David had an intimate outdoor ceremony on the lower meadow outside the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. A snowstorm decided to roll in with a fresh new layer of fluff that obscured the mountains views but getting married in a snow globe is pretty magical too. Following the ceremony, we wandered around the grounds at Lake Louise for photos. After a while, I whisked Elizabeth & David away to go try a spot on the river down in the town. It was a snowy wonderland there as well and we had the spot entirely to ourselves, which is always nice. We had fun on the river and Elizabeth & David even tried to catch a few snowflakes on their tongues (just the cutest photo ever!). Wrapping up as we were nearing the sun going down, we drove back up the hill where I dropped them off to enjoy the evening with their close family and friends at the Deer Lodge, next door to the Chateau Lake Louise. Here are some of my favourite photos from Elizabeth & David’s Lake Louise Winter wedding!
