Modern Edmonton Wedding
I first chatted with Katrina & Graeme over Skype as they live in Vancouver. As I heard more about the story behind their wedding venue I got really excited. They were married in Graeme’s family home which used to be a Unitarian Church…a really awesome property that was converted to a home. There’s a little more history with the house but I don’t want to give away all of their story! Since the house went up for sale it kind of helped set the date since they knew they wanted to be married there. It was a crazy hot June day and we found ourselves outside the home where quite a few guests stayed cool by wading in the pool in the entry area. I was tempted to go in myself! The venue was super modern so it really set the tone for the theme of their awesome day! We loved their modern Edmonton wedding!

From the Couple:
What were you most looking forward to on your wedding day? Celebrating with everyone.
What ended up being your favourite moment(s) of the day (both answer)?
Everyone cooling off in the pool. We were worried people wouldn’t be comfortable outside since there isn’t really a backyard, but the heat forced everyone out front which was great.
The dancing at the end of the night, when it finally cooled off and everyone was relaxed.
What was the song you chose for your first dance? Frank Sinatra, Fly Me to the Moon.
How did you choose your colour scheme/theme for the wedding? We didn’t really have one! We really love how clean and modern the venue is and didn’t feel that it needed a lot of enhancement. We got wood chairs to match the floors and stuck with white linens. Candles and flowers were our only decor. Since we only had one bridesmaid and groomsman, we told them they could wear whatever they wanted. In the end we got matching shirts and ties for the groomsman, but he just wore his own suit.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
New York. (They went in October!)
As always, thanks to Chelsey for being my awesome second shooter!!
