Name: Elizabeth van der Bij (silent j - pronounced vanderby), but you can call me Beth!
Photographing weddings since: July 2007 when I second shot my first wedding assisting a friend - so glad she gave me the opportunity!
Why ENV?: ENV is my initials (Elizabeth Nancy van der Bij), which is much better than my former initials which was END (not so appropriate for photographing the symbolic beginning of a life together!) Also, it's pronounced like envy, as in being green with... :)
A few quirky details:
- I talk really, really fast when I get excited.
- I am horribly awkward in front of the camera! Seriously, it's bad!
- I'm really quite shy and I'm always a little scared when I meet new people for the first time.
- I'm a mommy to four darling cats named after Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events characters - Violet, Sunny, Klaus and Olaf.
- My favourite movie of all time is The Lost Boys - I have been obsessed with it since I was 9 (it came out in 1987) and rented it every weekend for years. At one point (when I was young and silly), I leapt from my top bunk-bed while sleeping and somehow ended up on the dresser across the bedroom - attempting to fly like my favourite vampires, I suppose!
- My favourite colour is blue, closely followed by green which has been a recent development in the past few years.
- My favourite things (music and fashion) are all from an era before I was even born! I love old 1960s reggae and circa 1977-1982 UK streetpunk.
- I just got my very first studio space in Downtown Edmonton and I am so proud of it! |
